The Mad Hornet is a 1997 Nerf Max Force blaster that holds 6 Micro Darts. It is no longer available for purchase since its home line has been discontinued. When it was introduced, it retailed for about $14.99. It received good reviews when it first came out.
The blaster was re-released into the Max Force 2112 line at an unknown date, but with no changes to the body or paintwork; 1997 Max Force 2112 models can be distinguished by their "New" sticker on their box.

Themed after a hornet, the Mad Hornet was the first Nerf blaster to use air pressure for firing darts. Its pump has a handle shaped like a hornet head, and the rear part resembles the abdomen of a hornet, too. It also features a six-dart rotating turret at the front.
Originally, the Mad Hornet was slated to feature a stinger-themed pressure gauge, dubbed the "Sting Meter". But, because of a potential safety hazard where it could poke someone's eye out, the Mad Hornet's release date was pushed back so that the Sting Meter could be removed from its design.
The blaster is capable of semi-automatic fire, featuring a specialized internal mechanism. This allows for a higher rate of fire than with most other air-pressure blasters of the time.
Faults[]
The Mad Hornet has a rather lackluster firing range, never exceeding 25 feet. Another drawback is that the handle on the pump can be freely rotated, meaning that it could block fired darts in the right position(s).
How to Fire[]
Step 1 - Insert five darts into the barrels of the turret.
Step 2 - Pump the blaster at least 20 times to prime it.
Step 3 - Pull the trigger to fire.
