Overheating is a certain "mode" of a Lazer Tag tagger that occurs when the tagger's "temperature" is at its highest point. As there is no way to really determine the "temperature" of the tagger by looking at its heads-up display, it is something most players have to watch out for when they are playing Lazer Tag. There are various different causes of overheating, such as firing ten shots rapidly off a tagger. When a tagger overheats, the weapon is disabled for a period of time and has to "cool down" before it can be used again. This is likely to prevent the overpowering of other opponents using a tagger. All taggers produced from 2004, bar the LTAR and Phoenix LTX, can overheat.
